Map route for April 6th SBP Spring Run

MAP FOR 2MORROW SBP monthly Run. We will not give out printouts of map so make your own copy. Also take some cash for a Wing Stop break. If you don’t care for Wing Stop, Starbucks and other stores are near by. Every resposible age welcome and as always bring your positive attidude. BIKE PARTY!!

P.S.

In the past runs people that ride fast end up waiting a long time at each breakpoint which leads to some frustration in both ends because they want to leave by the time the last biker makes it to the breakpoint. Plus it splits up the group and some people get lost. So we ask every “fast” pace bikers to give the “cruiser” pace bikers a head start at the beganing of the run and every break point. So depending on how fast you ride, the rule of thumb is, the faster the rider the longer head start you give the “cruising” riders. Thank you to everyone who will be participating. Just for riding your bike you are making a positive change in Salinas. So lets get on our bikes and have fun! Click below for map

SBP monthly run April 6

SBP monthy bicycle run this upcoming Saturday April 6

Gathering 5:30pm Launching 6pm

Meetpoint: Bear Bikes http://www.bearbikeshop.com/

1288 N. Main St. Salinas, CA 93906

We are gathering at Bear Bikes for the simple reason that much of us prep our bicycles but there is always some last minute repair that requires a part or adjusting . Parking is very limited at location but plenty close by. Make sure to bring some cash for our Wing Stop break point. Every responsible age, style of bicycle, and positive attitudes welcome. Lets come together, ride together. BIKE PARTY!!

April SBP test run complete

Day before Easter and last minute rain did not stop us from doing a test run for next weeks Monthly run. Meeting point will soon be anounced due to route changes. Awesome test run and can’t wait for this Saturday. Every responsible age, style of bicycle, and positive attitudes welcome. Lets come together, ride together.

Pothole? Other problem on the bikeways? Report it!

Out cruising on your bike and hit a pothole? SBP can help get these things fixed!

Besides giving input for making particular streets better, you can also tell the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) your service requests about roadway or bike path conditions anytime.

TAMC wants to hear from people who bike about the things that interfere with biking. Below are some examples. Click here to email TAMC.

  • Pothole or Pavement Cracks
  • Protruding or Sunken Access Cover (you know the ones–those manholes that mess with your ride)
  • Debris on Shoulder
  • Bikeways (paths, routes, lanes) Not Clearly Marked
  • Drainage Grate Problem
  • Damaged or Missing Bikeway Signs
  • Traffic Signal Not Triggered by Bicycles (bikes aren’t detected)
  • Vegetation Overgrowth (like those low-hanging branches that smack you in the face when traffic is heavy and you just can’t avoid them)
  • Debris on Bikeway (like mud in the Blanco Road lanes)
  • Construction Obstacle (TAMC can help out when construction is going on–but only if you tell them about the problem)

Message from SBP

Last Saturday was SBP monthly run. The truth of the matter was that it was the smallest turn out ever. But the funny thing is it started out as the most upsetting event to becoming the most fun event yet. How you ask, because of the people who attended wanted to ride no matter how small the group was and that’s what we did. Thank you to all who attended this last run and reminded us the simplicity of getting on a bike and having fun. That is what SBP is all about. Everything else we do is to be in good standards with the community as well as the law enforcement so we can continue this. SBP is a community effort event, that means you. With the help of random local volunteers we have been able to continue this. In result this has open doors for people outside and inside Monterey County to see Salinas in a positive way. Salinas is our home and so lets make our home welcoming to guest despite the negative reputation this city has received. So you decide if you want to keep this party going or not. To end this I’ll leave you with a quote that fuels SBP.  “You must be the change you want to see in the world”
